Loài Arum maculatum thuộc họ Araceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Germany, France, Switzerland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, Belgium. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘egypt: chất độc, bàng quang’, ‘elsewhere: đổ mồ hôi, có mùi hôi, chất độc, thuốc long đờm, chất độc’, ‘europe: chất độc’, ‘turkey: thuốc long đờm, chất độc, có mùi hôi, dạ dày, thuốc bổ’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 70 hoạt chất thuộc về 11 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, fatty acyls, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, organonitrogen compounds, organooxygen compounds, phenols, prenol lipids, saturated hydrocarbons, unsaturated hydrocarbons.
