Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘africa: có mùi hôi, thuốc phá thai’, ‘elsewhere: đổ mồ hôi’, ‘liberia: thuốc tẩy giun’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 75 hoạt chất thuộc về 9 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, fatty acyls, flavonoids, heteroaromatic compounds, lactones, organooxygen compounds, oxepanes, prenol lipids, steroids and steroid derivatives.
