Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘india: thuốc nhuận tràng, thuốc nhuận tràng’, ’india*: thuốc thanh lọc’, ‘java: thuốc nhuận tràng’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 170 hoạt chất thuộc về 16 nhóm gồm aurone flavonoids, benzene and substituted derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, coumarins and derivatives, ergoline and derivatives, fatty acyls, flavonoids, fluorenes, furanoid lignans, indoles and derivatives, lignan glycosides, linear 1,3-diarylpropanoids, organooxygen compounds, phenols, prenol lipids, steroids and steroid derivatives.
