Loài Bryophyllum pinnatum thuộc họ Crassulaceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Benin, Malawi, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Réunion, Cambodia, Brazil, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Australia, Sri Lanka. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘dominican republic: buồn ngủ’, ‘elsewhere: diệt khuẩn, diệt khuẩn, chất làm mềm, cầm máu, dễ bị tổn thương’, ‘haiti: chất khử trùng, chất khử trùng, sẹo, thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc lợi tiểu, buồn ngủ’, ‘trinidad: diệt khuẩn’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 57 hoạt chất thuộc về 9 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, fatty acyls, flavonoids, organooxygen compounds, phenanthrenes and derivatives, prenol lipids, saturated hydrocarbons, steroids and steroid derivatives.
