Loài Gentiana lutea thuộc họ Gentianaceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Germany, nan, France, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Ukraine, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Belgium. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘elsewhere: giờ mở cửa, thuốc bổ, chất kích thích’, ‘india: giờ mở cửa’, ‘turkey: dạ dày, thuốc bổ’, ‘ain: dạ dày’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 107 hoạt chất thuộc về 13 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, benzopyrans, carboxylic acids and derivatives, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, harmala alkaloids, indoles and derivatives, organooxygen compounds, prenol lipids, pyranopyridines, pyrans, pyridines and derivatives, steroids and steroid derivatives.
