Loài Litsea cubeba thuộc họ Lauraceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Nepal, Malaysia, Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘china: thuốc long đờm, thuốc bổ’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 53 hoạt chất thuộc về 11 nhóm gồm aporphines, benzene and substituted derivatives, benzimidazoles, cinnamyl alcohols, hydroxy acids and derivatives, isoquinolines and derivatives, organooxygen compounds, phenanthrenes and derivatives, prenol lipids, proaporphines, tetrahydroisoquinolines.
