Loài Virola elongata thuộc họ Myristicaceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘brazil(paumari): ma túy’, ‘brazil(yanomamo): chất gây ảo giác’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 127 hoạt chất thuộc về 15 nhóm gồm arylnaphthalene lignans, aryltetralin lignans, benzene and substituted derivatives, benzodioxanes, benzodioxoles, dibenzylbutane lignans, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, indanes, indoles and derivatives, linear 1,3-diarylpropanoids, organooxygen compounds, phenols, steroids and steroid derivatives, stilbenes.
