Loài Virola sebifera thuộc họ Myristicaceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như Bolivia (Plurinational State of), French Guiana, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, Peru. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘elsewhere: xà phòng’, ‘south america: xà phòng’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 80 hoạt chất thuộc về 12 nhóm gồm arylnaphthalene lignans, aryltetralin lignans, benzene and substituted derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, dibenzylbutane lignans, fatty acyls, furanoid lignans, indanes, indoles and derivatives, naphthalenes, organooxygen compounds, steroids and steroid derivatives.
