Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘china: thuốc giảm đau’, ‘elsewhere: đổ mồ hôi, thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc an thần, thuốc nhuận tràng, thuốc long đờm’, ‘turkey: thuốc gây mật, ma túy, chất độc, thuốc an thần, thuốc tẩy giun, thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc nhuận tràng’, ‘us: chất độc’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 75 hoạt chất thuộc về 17 nhóm gồm ?, aporphines, benzazepines, benzene and substituted derivatives, benzodioxoles, benzophenanthridine alkaloids, carboxylic acids and derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, flavonoids, isoquinolines and derivatives, lupin alkaloids, organonitrogen compounds, protoberberine alkaloids and derivatives, protopine alkaloids, pyrans, quinolines and derivatives, tetrahydroisoquinolines.
