Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘bahamas: thuốc nhuận tràng, giờ mở cửa’, ‘haiti: thuốc tống hơi, tiêu hóa, tiêu hóa, thuốc lợi tiểu, dạ dày’, ‘india: thuốc lợi tiểu’, ‘malaya: thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc diệt cá’, ‘philippines: emmenagogue, thuốc bổ’, ‘samoa: thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc đắp’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 115 hoạt chất thuộc về 16 nhóm gồm ?, 2-arylbenzofuran flavonoids, aryltetralin lignans, azaspirodecane derivatives, benzene and substituted derivatives, carboxylic acids and derivatives, dibenzylbutane lignans, fatty acyls, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, indolizidines, isocoumarins and derivatives, prenol lipids, pyrrolizidines, steroids and steroid derivatives, tannins.
