Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘china: thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc tẩy giun’, ‘elsewhere: chất khử trùng, giờ mở cửa, chất làm se, diệt khuẩn, chất làm lạnh, thuốc diệt cá, thuốc lợi tiểu, dạ dày’, ‘india: thuốc diệt cá’, ‘malaya: thuốc lợi tiểu, thuốc diệt cá’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 74 hoạt chất thuộc về 14 nhóm gồm ?, aryltetralin lignans, benzene and substituted derivatives, carboxylic acids and derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, dibenzylbutane lignans, fatty acyls, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, isocoumarins and derivatives, organooxygen compounds, prenol lipids, steroids and steroid derivatives, tannins.
