Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘dominican republic: chất làm se, thuốc lợi tiểu, chất kích thích, dạ dày’, ‘haiti: cầm máu, thuốc kích thích tình dục’, ‘latin america: chất làm se, thuốc lợi tiểu, chất kích thích’, ‘mexico: chất làm se, thuốc lợi tiểu, chất kích thích, chất làm se, thuốc lợi tiểu, chất kích thích’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 189 hoạt chất thuộc về 15 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, benzodioxoles, benzopyrans, coumarans, diarylheptanoids, fatty acyls, flavonoids, linear 1,3-diarylpropanoids, organooxygen compounds, phenol esters, phenol ethers, phenols, prenol lipids, steroids and steroid derivatives, unsaturated hydrocarbons.
