Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘dominican republic: thuốc tống hơi’, ‘haiti: thuốc kích thích tình dục, thuốc tống hơi, emmenagogue, chất kích thích, thuốc bổ, tiêu hóa, thuốc bổ’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 24 hoạt chất thuộc về 6 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, benzodioxoles, cinnamic acids and derivatives, prenol lipids, pyrrolidines, steroids and steroid derivatives.
