Loài Zanthoxylum ailanthoides thuộc họ Rutaceae phân bố tại một số vùng trên thế giới như China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Republic of. Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘china: thuốc giải độc, chất kích thích, thuốc tống hơi’, ‘elsewhere: dạ dày’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 164 hoạt chất thuộc về 23 nhóm gồm 2-arylbenzofuran flavonoids, aporphines, aryltetralin lignans, benzene and substituted derivatives, benzophenanthridine alkaloids, carboximidic acids and derivatives, cinnamaldehydes, cinnamic acids and derivatives, cinnamyl alcohols, coumarins and derivatives, fatty acyls, flavonoids, furanoid lignans, imidazopyrimidines, organooxygen compounds, phenol ethers, phenols, prenol lipids, protoberberine alkaloids and derivatives, quinolines and derivatives, steroids and steroid derivatives, stilbenes, tetralins.
