Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘china: thuốc kích thích tình dục, chất làm lạnh, thuốc bổ, thuốc bổ’, ‘chinese: thuốc bổ’, ‘japan: thuốc bổ, thuốc hạ sốt’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 49 hoạt chất thuộc về 13 nhóm gồm aryltetralin lignans, benzodioxanes, carboxylic acids and derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, flavonolignans, harmala alkaloids, lignan glycosides, organooxygen compounds, phenols, piperidines, prenol lipids, sphingolipids, stilbenes.
