Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘africa: thuốc tẩy giun’, ‘chad: thuốc xông khói’, ‘ghana: thuốc xông khói, thuốc nhuận tràng, thuốc tẩy giun’, ‘nigeria: thuốc phá thai, chất tạo ngọt’, ‘sudan: họ sẽ mở, thuốc tẩy giun, thuốc nhuận tràng, thuốc nhuận tràng, xà phòng’, ‘uganda: xà phòng’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 50 hoạt chất thuộc về 8 nhóm gồm benzene and substituted derivatives, cinnamic acids and derivatives, coumarins and derivatives, organooxygen compounds, phenols, prenol lipids, saturated hydrocarbons, steroids and steroid derivatives.
