Dược liệu đã được sử dụng ở một số vùng lãnh thổ để điều trị một số chứng và bệnh tại như ‘elsewhere: thuốc lợi tiểu, có mùi hôi, chất kích thích’, ‘haiti: thuốc bổ, có mùi hôi’, ‘india: chất kích thích, thuốc nhuận tràng’, ‘turkey: họ sẽ mở, thuốc lợi tiểu, có mùi hôi’, ‘venezuela: thuốc tống hơi, thuốc nhuận tràng, có mùi hôi’, ‘west indies: chất độc’.Từ loài này đã phân lập và xác định được 55 hoạt chất thuộc về 6 nhóm gồm carboxylic acids and derivatives, diarylheptanoids, naphthopyrans, organooxygen compounds, prenol lipids, steroids and steroid derivatives.
